A prayer in the form of touch.
The ancient art of Kashmir Shaivism – passed on by Swami Anahata to his students.
Kashmiri Tantra Massage is an ancient, meditative form of bodywork rooted in the pure philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism. As taught and passed on by Swami Anahata to his students, this art is a “prayer in the form of touch”. It pursues no sexual or mechanical goal; instead it creates an entirely intention-free space in which deep emotional and physical healing can happen by itself.

The hara–root connection
The massage is based on the continuous flow of life energy between giver and receiver. Throughout the entire massage, the giver’s hara centre (the centre of strength and life energy in the lower belly) stays in constant, direct contact with the receiver’s muladhara centre (root chakra).
This direct axis creates a closed, pure circuit of energy. It reawakens the deep sense of safety of the prenatal space and lets life energy flow safely and freely.
Ritual protection
To keep this sacred space pure, the giver learns to wear a traditional loincloth (langot). It sets a clear boundary and separates sacred life energy from profane desire. While the upper body remains free for the flowing hara-to-body contact, the giver’s intimate area always stays respectfully covered.
- 01
Attunement & breath
A mindful preliminary conversation clarifies boundaries. Shared meditation and synchronised breathing (pranayama) create trust.
- 02
Tandava dance
The giver opens the ritual with the Tandava – a very slow, meditative dance that quiets the mind and attunes energetically to the encounter.
- 03
Ritual anointing
The receiver rests on a warm floor mat. Warm oil is applied with flowing, secure strokes.
- 04
The 4 asanas (body positions)
The massage moves chronologically through exactly four positions that integrate deeper emotional layers.
- 05
Closing face massage
Feather-light strokes on the forehead, eyes and jaw complete the phase of direct touch.
- 06
Resting in silence
The receiver rests, warmly covered, and glides into the phase of integrating the Kashmiri Tantra Massage.
The 4 asanas in detail
- 1. Lying on the right side
The actual bodywork begins in this foetal position. The giver nestles in from behind. This allows a deep, asymmetrical letting go and nourishes the primal need to be held.
- 2. Lying on the left side
Changing to the other side restores the energetic balance in the body and deeply relaxes the nervous system.
- 3. Lying on the belly
Activates the trust of the inner child. As the front of the body rests protected on the floor, the system relaxes immediately during the long strokes along the back.
- 4. The open back position
The legs open like butterfly wings. Stroking the inner thighs releases blockages in the pelvic area and frees youthful life force.
